Franz Kafka: Cover Series Redesign
This seven-book Franz Kafka series was my second major project during my internship at Casa Carlini. Through this project, I refined my research process by focusing on key words and emotional themes, allowing the visual direction to grow directly from the tone of each work.
My initial concept explored linocut illustrations to create a raw, unsettling quality. I ultimately chose a textured background instead, creating a cohesive system across the series while relying on bold typography, strong contrast, and color to communicate the design direction outlined in the brief. The goal, as defined by my supervisor, was to capture Kafka’s unsettling, introspective, and distinctly modern voice while creating a unified series that feels striking and immediately recognizable.
